Garmin

1. Download the POI Loader program here
2. Install the POI Loader by double clicking on the file you've downloaded and follow the instructions
3. Purchase the database using the Add To Cart links above. Choose to download the .GPX format, saving this to your computer (Do not open).
4. Move the downloaded file into the folder that you use for loading new locations into your device
5. Connect the Garmin compatible device your computer
6. Start the POI Loader program by clicking: Start » All Programs » Garmin » POI Loader.
7. Click Next, be sure your Garmin unit is displayed, click Next again, click Browse to find and select the folder where you stored the M.A.D. Database
8. Leave the other settings as is, and click Next
9. You will see a "Congratulations!" message, click Finish to exit the program

 

TomTom (Compatible with all TomTom models)

1. Purchase the M.A.D. Database above using the Add To Cart buttons above. Choose to download the OV2 format from your receipt e-mail.
2. Copy the file into the usa_and_canada directory on your TomTom compatible device, or active map directory. Follow the instructions here

Magellan (*Compatible with most Magellan models except for Magellan Roadmate models , 1440, 1470, 1340, 1200 and Maestro Models 3100, 4370, 4350, Which ARE NOT COMPATIBLE )

1. Purchase the M.A.D. Database above using the Add To Cart buttons. Choose to download the CSV format from your receipt e-mail.
2. Use Magellan POI File Editor, an application that comes with your Magellan device, to convert files to a .mgln format
3. On the GPS device, go to Menu » Navigation Options » Configuration » Custom POI's » Select a POI File » MAD Database

Downloading Tips

Our database is available in several GPS compatible file formats. You can experiment with the different formats by downloading a sample of our data below:

1 .gpx, which is an XML data format for the interchange of GPS data (waypoints, routes, and tracks) between applications and Web services. .gpx will work with today's popular hand-held GPS devices such as Garmin, Magellan and others. For a list of supported devices which use native .gpx format, click here.

2. .txt and .csv file formats which can be used to create GPS map files and even google earth KML files. These file types are considered more of a universal data format which can be formatted and converted using third party programs such as GPS Babel or POI edit, which can convert .csv file in to TomTom compatible OV2 files. Some of the more recent Magellan products such as the Roadmate, ship with a set of tools to create your own files from .csv.

Important! If you're downloaded a .gpx file for your device, please review your manufacturers support pages to determine if you'll need a third party loader or need to use your manufacturers' proprietary application. Specific instructions can be found in your owners literature or on the manufacturer's website.
