FRISCO, Texas -- As more red light cameras pop up over North Texas there is some new technology that can help drivers avoid ever getting a ticket, NBC 5 reported.Gary Laing said on his way home from work each night the rules of the road are sometimes the furthest thing from his mind."It's easy to be distracted and not paying attention to signs," he said.He said that is why he decided to start selling the new red light warning systems. There is a range of options including the $300 Cheetah that tells drivers an upcoming intersection is armed with cameras or for a lot less money GPS owners can subscribe to the same database for a yearly subscription.Police NBC 5 spoke with were supportive of the technology."What we want is compliance. It's not about revenue. It's about getting people to stop for red lights," Frisco police Sgt. Gerald Meadors said.Laing said that is his company's goal too."It's alerting you to upcoming danger areas, so it's a win-win for us as well as the police department," he said. The warning systems range in price from $25 to $500.
